Common questions
How do I play Ludo? Each player has tokens waiting in their home corner. Roll a six to bring a token onto the track, then move it around the board by the number you roll. Land on a rival's token to capture it and send it back home (except on safe squares). The first player to bring all their tokens to the centre wins.
What is Adventure mode? Ten themed boards to play against friendly bots. Win a board for a star, and earn up to three stars by meeting its goals — capturing enough tokens and finishing within a number of turns.
What are the special squares? Some boards have extra squares: gift squares give you a treat, boost squares push you forward, slide squares send you back a little, and portals whisk you to another square on the track. Start and star squares are always safe.
What are power cards? On boards with cards, you collect little helpers during the game. Play one on your turn for a boost. Each card can be used once.
What are house rules? Families play Ludo in lots of different ways. You can switch house rules on or off before a party game so it plays the way you're used to.
How does pass-and-play work? 2–4 friends and family can play together on one phone or tablet. Pick a colour for each player, then pass the device to whoever's turn it is. No accounts or internet connection are needed.
How do online rooms work? One player creates a room and gets a private 6-letter room code. Share the code with friends or family, and they type it in to join. There is no public matchmaking, so you only play with people you invited. Players get friendly auto-made nicknames, and instead of chat you can send preset emoji reactions. Rooms are deleted when the game ends or after a while without any moves.
Can I play on my own? Yes. Friendly bots can fill any empty seats, from easy to clever.
Can I tell the colours apart if I'm colour-blind? Yes. Every player colour also has its own shape on the tokens and home areas.
How are stars and Ludo Points worked out? Winning a board earns 1 to 3 stars and a score. Your Ludo Points are your best scores on every board added together.
Where is my progress saved? On your device, and backed up to our server under an anonymous player ID so it isn't lost. No sign-in is needed.
Can I change my nickname? Yes. You can ask the game for a new random nickname. Nicknames are picked from a list of friendly words so everyone stays safe.
How do I delete my data? Email us your nickname and device type (iPhone/iPad, Android or web) and we'll delete your progress and scores.
Are there ads or in-app purchases? No ads, no in-app purchases and no tracking.
